What fillers do

Hyaluronic acid gels restore volume that has been lost, provide structural support where tissue has descended, and improve contour and asymmetry. Different products have different properties and are selected for the layer and purpose — firmer gels for deep structural support, softer ones for superficial refinement.

Filler does not treat skin quality, pigmentation or fine surface lines, and adding volume to a face that has lost support rather than volume produces the heavy, unbalanced look most people are trying to avoid.

Anatomical planning

The face has a predictable pattern of age-related change, and it is not uniform. Assessment considers bone structure, fat compartment volume and position, muscle activity, skin quality and how these interact when you move and speak.

Treatment addresses the cause where possible. Where a nasolabial fold results from midface volume loss, treating the midface achieves more than filling the fold directly — and uses less product.

Safety, plainly stated

Filler is not a trivial treatment. The serious risk is vascular occlusion, where product enters or compresses a blood vessel, potentially causing tissue death or, rarely, visual loss. It is uncommon but it is real, and it is why this should be performed by someone who understands facial vascular anatomy, injects cautiously, recognises the warning signs immediately and holds hyaluronidase on site with a protocol for using it.

Dr Babamiri also assesses and manages complications arising from treatment performed elsewhere. If you have concerns following filler with another provider, that is an appropriate reason to make contact.

Consent and cooling off

You will be given time to consider before proceeding. Same-day treatment on a first visit is not the default here.

Risks and limitations

No treatment is without risk, and you are entitled to the full picture before you decide rather than a summary afterwards. These are discussed with you individually at consultation, in the context of your own history.

• Bruising, swelling and tenderness, commonly for several days
• Lumps, nodules or visible or palpable product requiring adjustment or dissolving
• Asymmetry
• Infection, and rarely delayed-onset inflammatory nodules months later
• Vascular occlusion causing skin necrosis or, very rarely, blindness
• Product migration over time
• Allergic or hypersensitivity reactions
• A result that does not meet your expectations, which is why planning matters

Assessment and treatment are available at CLNQ Manchester at Deansgate Square in the city centre, and at CLNQ Knutsford on King Street in Cheshire — convenient for patients across Greater Manchester, Altrincham, Hale, Wilmslow, Alderley Edge and Macclesfield.

Both sites hold hyaluronidase on the premises with a written protocol for its use, which is the relevant question to ask any clinic offering filler. Complications arising from treatment performed elsewhere in the North West are also assessed here.
